The controversy surrounding the return of fierce self-proclaimed NRM General Miguna Miguna seems to be escalating even as the government maintains that he has to apply for citizenship.

On Monday, a defiant Miguna refused to board a Dubai bound plane, forcing security officers to detain him in a 'small dark room' at the airport according to his lawyers.

"Miguna is detained in a cage and has been surviving without food for a whole day. We have been denied access to his detention room," claimed lawyer Cliff Ombeta.

Government officials from the ministry of Interior Coordination maintained that the Canadian based lawyer is not a Kenyan citizen thus presenting him with fresh application forms.

But the drama has taken again another interesting turn after the government chased lawyers Otiende Amollo and James Orengo from JKIA Terminal 2, where Miguna is reportedly held.

"The plot thickens further. Senator Orengo and myself have been thrown out of the waiting area of Terminal 2 . Miguna is now held incommunicado," he tweeted.

High Court Judge Chacha Mwita had rendered Miguna's deportation illegal and issued an order demanding reinstatement of his citizenship.

Through the court order, Miguna reportedly refused to surrender his Canadian passport upon arrival, this precipitating the standoff.
