Supporters allied to opposition NASA on Wednesday evening paralyzed business in Nairobi’s Central Business District in solidarity with embattled Embakasi East MP Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino.
The outspoken MP was arrested on Monday evening over alleged incitement and was subsequently arraigned in Milimani Law Courts thereafter.
Shortly after being released on bail late Wednesday, Owino was re-arrested and whisked by flying squad officers to CID headquarters.
It is believed that he may face another charge for allegedly using obscene gesture during court proceedings.
But moments after his re-arrest, angry NASA supports carried twigs and blocked major roads to Nairobi’s busy CBD in solidarity with the youthful MP.
Chanting pro-opposition slogans, the agitated supporters walked toward CID headquarters with some threatening to take unspecified actions against the government.
Lawyer James Orengo had secured a Sh500, 000 cash bail for the unsettled legislator following request by the prosecution to have him held for more days.
