The convoy of NASA coalition principal Raila Odinga was on Friday evening blocked, as he entered Kisumu, one of the Nyanza counties where he receives wide political support.
Odinga had arrived in Kisumu from Kisii, where he had attended the burial of former University lecturer Prof Oweri Tumbo.
A section of supporters of the ODM party leader blocked the Kakamega-Kisumu road at the Kondele roundabout, demanding that Odinga addresses them before continuing with his journey.
He took the mic and asked hundreds of supporters to calm down, with the visit being the first since he held a truce meeting with President Uhuru Kenyatta, for the sake of Kenyans.
Odinga affirmed to the tumultuous crowd his commitment to the national dialogue and unity talks with Uhuru Kenyatta towards inclusivity and development of the region and the entire nation.
"I wish to thank the people of Kisumu County for a very warm welcome and strongly endorsing the national reconciliation process that we are undertaking for the sake of our beloved nation. Asanteni sana," Odinga said after he addressed the multitude.
