[Photo|Justo Misiko]Reports indicate that one person has been shot dead in Bungoma County, after protesters engaged the police in running battles, Friday.The deceased, who appeared to be in his twenties, was reportedly shot dead by the police, at Muteremko estate in Bungoma town, according to eye witnesses.Witnesses said he was removed from his house, as he was taking his lunch.
As a result, angry supporters of the National Super Alliance (Nasa) who were protesting alongside the deceased, barricaded the Bungoma-Mumias road from the Bus terminus to Musikoma. Protests were still continuing as at 12 pm, Friday, with residents accusing the police of using live bullets and brutality against them.
Residents said police were being ferried to the town in school buses, as they lobbed teargas canisters, and opening fire.By the time of this publication, police had not commended on the incident.
