Two people have died in a road accident in Matungulu, Machakos County.
The duo lost their lives while several others sustained serious injuries after the vehicles they were traveling in collided head on along Nairobi - Kangundo Road at Kwa Nguku area on Sunday.
The accident involved a Land Rover and public service vehicle matatu belonging to the Eastern Bypass Travellers Sacco (EBTI).
According to eye witnesses, the matatu's driver who was over speeding attempted to overtake other vehicles when the incident occurred.
The vehicles were moving in opposite directions.
The accident was confirmed by Kangundo police boss Samuel Anampiu who said drivers of both the vehicles were among those who died.
Anampiu urged motorists to be vigilant on the road and avoid reckless overtaking to avoid accidents.
The victims were rushed to Nguluni Dispensary and Kangundo Level Four Hospital for treatment.
The bodies were removed to Kangundo Level Four Hospital mortuary while wreckage towed to Matungulu Police Station.
