Archbishop Gerrishon Njoroge of the Wings of Life Church – International yesterday presided over the grand opening of the Royal Family Cathedral in Ndeiya.
In an event attended by hundreds, Archbishop Njoroge affirmed his call to the preaching of the gospel and establishing of churches for the glory of God and salvation of many.
Archbishop Njoroge who joined the ministry over 40 years ago has established churches in Kiambu, Nairobi, Kakamega and USA and other parts of the world.
Under him, he has pastors and overseers under him who assist in shepherding of the flock in the different churches scattered across the country.
He was ordained an Archbishop in 2014 after the church grew in breadth demanding for him as the top most leader to assume the top rank.
The church was filled to capacity, with some sitting outside. After the opening and sermon, those present were treated to a sumptuous meal of tea, mukimo, chapati, meat and stew.
Area MP John Kiragu gave Sh10,000 towards the buying of seats for the church. Ruth Wambui, a resident of Ndeiya who was present during the ceremony said the church had done a great work in establishing the church.
“The people have built a very beautiful structure here for the worship of God, and as residents of Ndeiya we are proud,” said Wambui.
Wambui added that she was a member of another church in Ndeiya, but specially attended the opening of the Wings of Life Church because of the captivating exterior beauty of the structure.
“I attended my (sic) church, then quickly came here for the service because I greatly admired the beauty of the building from the outside, and really wanted to see the inside,” said Wambui.
She added that for many years the church structure there was not admirable but the congregation was passionate, and kept coming.
“God never forsakes his people. The church is at a good location, right next to the Mutarakwa-Ndeiya Road that connects the region to the southern bypass,” she added.
