Joan Akinyi, a former student at MMShah in Kisumu County, is appealing to well-wishers to help her raise secondary school fees.
Akinyi scored 402 marks out of the possible 500 in the last year Kenya Certifiate of Primary Education (KCPE).
She has been admitted at Mary Hills Girls secondary school in Thika but her mother, a widow, is not in a position to raise the fee.
According to her mother, Emily Anyango, the family is in need of over Sh100,000.
"We have requested for some assistance from the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) but we are yet to receive a feedback,” said Anyango.
Anyango said she has tried all her best and acquired Sh20,000 from a merry-go-round but it is still not enough.
Akinyi stays with her mother at Shauri Moyo estate and has a dream of becoming a neurosurgeon.
