The student, Imelda Anditi who scored 430 marks in last year’s KCPE, was among the top students in the country, scoring a perfect A in all subjects tested. Miss Anditi, is now one of the fortunate few to have the chance to study in one of the best schools in the country thanks to the UN fund.

Dr Nashon Fitzwanga of the UN foundation, who is Anditis’s direct sponsor, said that he learnt of her story after a story he read about Anditi on newspaper.

“I was very touched by the young girls’ story; a lot of bright students in Kenya do not get the chance to access quality education as a result of abject poverty. We should seriously look into this matter as a country and try to find a tangible and realistic solution to this problem,” he said.

Anditi's father Hesbon Anditi yesterday said he is happy that his daughter's education is taken care of and thanked the foundation.
