Kahuria who comes from a poor background in Bahati, in an exclusive interview says his mother - a ‘mama mboga’ at  Karunga shopping centre - has been struggling to earn them a living.

They, however, have been overwhelmed by university fee.

When we caught up with him working in their shamba at Bahati, Kahuria said he has not lost hope despite they current struggles. He believes if he is educated, he can get his family out of poverty.

According to a letter from Pwani University, the sharp boy was expected to report on August. But his humble background would hardly afford even fare to the coast-based institution..

Though the family cannot afford theSh42, 900 fee required, Kahuria is optimistic that a wellwisher will help him achieve his dreams.

“I know the only way to succeed in future is through quality education. I have the grades but then school fees is the problem. I appeal to any wellwisher to step in and assist me get to the university so that I can help my family,” Kahuria said.

His mother, Esther Wanjiru Kimiri, in an interview said her only joy is to see her son proceed with studies.

She says education is the only way to bring them out of the poverty.

“My wish is that my son may proceed with his studies beyond form four,” she said.

While regretting for the state of her life, Wanjiru says if she was well off then her son could not undergo such suffering.

“If it were my wish and if I were able, I could have paid for him but with the struggles here and there and his father not financially stable then we have a huge burden but we hope God will one day do his will,” she said.

As a mother, Wanjiru hopes one day a well wisher will come to their rescue and save her son by paying school fees.
