Agnes Njambi who scored 380 marks and emerged top in her slum based school is appealing for support from well-wishers to help her raise school fees to join secondary school.
According to Nyamakoroto Primary School headmistress Jane Wanyoike where Njambi sat for her class eight, Njambi has been an exemplary example of hard work and discipline since she joined the school eight years ago and appealed to well-wishers to come to her support to help her realise her dream goal.
“Njambi has been very hard working. She could stay longer in class after the afternoon classes to study on her own and only went home when darkness registered. She used to bother her teachers very much with questions and in fact she could sometimes stand in for teachers away on duty,” said the headmistress.
“I want to also appealed to the Constituency Development Committee dealing with education bursaries committee to consider bright, but needy students once they obtain their admission.
Her mother who is a single mother and a fruit and vegetables vendor said that her daughter was very disciplined and hard working adding that she was not surprised to learn that she had emerged top in the school when the results came out.
“Njambi used to study until very late in the night and would also wake up very early to study. She never wanted to be idle,” said Njambi’s mother adding that she prays that well-wishers would come out to assist her daughter continue with her secondary education.
Njambi on the other hand said that she has hope and faith that she will be able to continue with her secondary school education and even university. She desires to be lawyer.
“I know God will help me continue with my education. I want to be a lawyer by profession so that I can fight for the rights of those who are being oppressed or not being given their rights. I want to see justice everywhere,” said the bright slum girl, Njambi.
