Some of the students who sat for KCPE last year in Matungulu sub-county who from humble backgrounds have been forced to repeat class eight due to lack of fees.
Speaking to different candidates in the sub-county on Wednesday they explained how they studied day and night to score good marks that may attract sponsors to take them to school since their parents are not able.
Cynthia Kasiva from Kyamulendu primary school who scored 367 said that she applied for sponsorship with Equity bank but she was left out something that broke her heart.
Nonetheless, Kasiva said that she is hoping that after repeating the class she might be lucky next time and have a chance to join high school.
"I might be pressed but not crushed I'm hoping one day luck will come my way and I will join high school and achieve my dreams of becoming a lawyer," said the teary Kasiva.
Andrew Mulwa from the same school who scored 378 marks explained that he will ensure he is not a class eight drop out even if he will be forced to repeat seven times until a well wisher volunteers to sponsor him.
This comes a week after Equity bank Tala branch manager Hellenic Muthoki said that 143 children were left out of the programme since it only picked 15.
