Family of a 32-year-old woman in Nakuru county is pleading with the Kenyan government to help bring back their sick daughter who is currently stuck in Oman.
In search of a living, Dainies Muthoni left for the Arab country on September 14 last year after being introduced to a Kenyan recruitment agency by a cousin who had worked in Oman for a year.
Mama Hannah Wangari says her daughter secured a job in Oman as a house help and the family that took her in was kind.
"But all changed when she fell sick and it was established she was suffering from brain tumour and was rendered unfit to work," says the mother.
Muthoni who took up the job so as to support her younger siblings was taken back to the recruitment agency in Oman by the family that took her in and abandoned and her family was informed of the situation.
According to the family, the agent by the name Pamela Adhiambo who secured a passport for their daughter is out of reach although she is the one mandated to communicate with the agency in Oman and ensure Muthoni is brought back home.
They are pleading with the CS Foreign Affairs Amina Mohamed in conjunction with the government to to help bring back their sick daughter to receive treatment while at home.
“We are not sure if the agency in Oman wants us to take our daughter as a corpse since no one is taking care of her… We are pleading with our government to help bring her back home,” she said.
The agency in Oman demands that the family raise a total of Sh200 000 to secure their daughter’s air ticket and efforts by the family to reach out to the local leaders for help have been futile.
