Kabete MP and Kiambu gubernatorial hopeful Ferdinand Waititu has welcomed governor William Kabogo's candidature for the county's top seat during the forthcoming general elections.
Waititu beat Kabogo in the battle for the Jubilee Party ticket during the just concluded party primaries.
The lawmaker garnered 353,604 votes against Kabogo's 69, 619 votes.
Speaking on Sunday shortly after receiving his Jubilee Party certificate, Waititu vowed to trounce Kabogo during the general elections, challenging the outspoken governor to respect the will of the people.
“Let him come. He should not blame the President or his deputy for his loss because it’s the people who rejected him…in fact he will be more humiliated because he will not even get the 69, 000 voters he got in the primaries,” Waititu noted.
Kabogo announced on Sunday that he will be defending his governorship seat as an independent candidate during the forthcoming general elections.
On her part, Thika MP Alice Ng'ang'a urged Jubilee Party ticket losers to unite ahead of the polls.
“Those leaders are destined to fail. Uhuru should not be dragged to local and petty politics, he has Nasa leaders to fight with," she said.
