Kenya Premier League (KPL) returnees Nzoia Sugar have sent warning shots to 13-time league champions AFC Leopards ahead of their showdown scheduled for Saturday this week.
Nzoia head coach Bernard Mwalala said that he has prepared his side for the clash, revealing that they will employ the same system they have used to win in the past.
“We will employ our tried and tested strategy. Which is to attack. Changing tact at this point considering we have young players could spoil our rhythm,” said Mwalala.
Mwalala said that although Leopards won against Nakumatt in their last match, they (Nzoia) are seeking to end the celebrations at the den in pursuit of the league's top spot.
“I watched their (Leopards) game against Nakumatt. They have high fitness levels with new players. We are looking to unsettle them.”
He however rued the absence of veteran defender Edwin Wafula and Luke Namanda whom he said will not be available due to injury.
“It is a similar issue for both players. They twisted their ankles during our last league match (against Mathare United). I expect them to be out for two weeks minimum,” the coach confirmed.
In their last two outings, Nzoia beat Tusker 5-2 and drew with Sony Sugar 1-1 while Leopards recorded an emphatic 3-0 win against Nakumatt in their only game staged at the Thika Municipal Stadium.
