Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua has condemned Cord leaders and especially Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka for the violent protests pushing for disbandment of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
Mutua was speaking at his county offices in Machakos town when he hosted over 400 women leaders and boda boda operators for a luncheon-cum consultative meeting where he urged them to form groups and seek for tenders from his government.
Mutua accused Kalonzo of misleading the Kamba community to join the protests and misusing other people’s wives, sons and daughters to cause anarchy.
“I want to categorically tell Kalonzo and his brigade that Kenyans are not gullible. Kambas have never been a violent people and they should not be lured into the trap of some people who have an insatiable appetite for power,” said Mutua.
Mutua said Kalonzo's move to mislead Kamba people were driven by the greed to acquire power and fame by all means necessary.
Majority leader in the Machakos County Assembly Joshua Mwonga also supported Mutua's sentiments noting that Kalonzo's children and wives are in comfortable homes or even abroad while those of the poor are being clobbered and tear gassed.
Meanwhile, Maendeleo Ya Wanawake Organisation Chairperson Francisca Mutinda led the grassroots leaders in rooting for the re-election of Mutua as the Machakos Governor come 2017.
