The British government launched the British Chamber of Commerce Kenya (BCCK), Coastal Chapter, in Mombasa.
The British High Commissioner to Kenya, Nic Hailey said the new BCCK Mombasa Chapter will represent, support and advocate a wide range of sectors including tourism, agri-business, shipping, infrastructure and transport, on behalf of British business in the Coastal region.
Area governor Ali Hassan Joho welcomed the launch at the English Point Marina.
Now in its fourth year of operations, Joho said BCCK represents over 200 members, from FTSE 100 companies down to individual consultants.
"It will go a long way in promoting trade links between Great Britain and Kenya and especially opening up possibilities of business partnerships and a multitude of investment opportunities for the coastal counties,'' Joho said, Tuesday.
Present also during the launch was: governors Issa Timmy (Lamu County), John Mruttu (Taita Taveta County), Mvita MP Abdulswamad Nassir among other leaders.
"We will collectively as a region continue to proactively source for such strategic partnerships and platforms that will enhance investments and we will also facilitate the enactment of progressive legislation and implementation policies that will make the coastal business environment much friendlier and stronger,'' assured the governor.
