According to the area County assembly speaker Moffat Teya, the county had failed to raise funds through the available means to fund for the trip and therefore they opted to keep off the conference.

"Its unfortunate that the MCAs from the County wont be attending the Kakamega conference that kicked off today due to lack of funds in the Counties kitty but we hope we will be able to attend other upcoming conferences" said Teya

However some of the MCAs showed their displeasure and accused the area Governor John Nyagarama for failing to govern the County up to an extent of it going broke.

"The devolution conference in important to us and us missing it means we wont be able to network with other leaders," said Manga MCA Enock Ogori.
