Kuria Maina and Robert Maina denied the charges when they appeared before Resident Magistrate Paul Chege.

The charges stated that on March 9, 2015, at Bangladesh estate in Nakuru, they gang raped a mentally challenged woman.

They face an alternative charge of indecently touching the complaint's private parts without her consent.

The court heard that the two paid a girl to lure the woman into their house before committing the offence.

The woman’s family reported the matter at the police station.

The duo was later arrested after being identified by the girl whom they hired to lure the complainant.

Efforts from the prosecution to bar the court from releasing the two on bond proved futile after their lawyer Reuben Mukoya successfully objected the application.

The case will be heard on June 5.
