Ann Njambi, a cyber operator, says that currently it is cheaper to operate cyber business in Nakuru. “We are now using the free wifi as routers and hence we will not be forced to pay the monthly subscription to companies which had subscribed to,” said Njambi.

She said that the wifi became handy especially in down loading heavy materials and in web browsing. Njambio, whose shop is located near National Bank, cited that the Free wifi had not affected the inflow of customers in her shop.

“Many have been coming possibly because they need the privacy of a shop instead of choosing to browse openly on the streets,” notes Njambi.

Lucy Kamau, another cyber operator, said that she had reduced her costs from to 50 cents a minute due to the free wifi.

“I have reduced the costs of purchasing bundles worth Sh 3,000 every month and the wifi connection has been good since it was launched on Friday.

"It will be fair for me to give my customers a cheaper rate for the services too,” she added.

She notes that the wifi had also enabled her to increase the number of machines in her shop as she anticipates more customers.
