Bugusero sub location residents in Kitutu Chache South constituency have asked Interior Cs Fred Matiang’i to sack area assistant chief Simon Mbwayo.
The residents led by Alphonse Makori claimed that the local administrator is not fit to hold a public office because he is at the forefront defending criminals in his area of jurisdiction.
“We don’t recognize the so-called assistant chief by the name Simon Mbwayo because he has failed in his duties. He has failed to arrest a woman who hails from Bokeabu village after she killed a baby aged 8 months old in Miranga village," he said.
"We want the chief sacked because we have other people who are fit to serve us,” he added.
Mr Makori claimed that the woman is at her parental home and it was the chief who failed to cooperate with the police and arrest her.
“We can’t allow impunity in the society especially living with murderers who may kill us anytime. It is time Matiang’i to act or we force the chief out of office,” he added.
Reached for a comment, the assistant chief denied the allegations saying he has not defended the woman in any way.
“I am aware that the woman killed her sister in-law’s baby and fled to her Bokeabu parental home. The woman is not at her parent’s home as claimed. We are pursuing her so that she can be arrested,” he said.
