A report by the Kisumu Water and Sewerage Company (Kiwasco) shows that most buildings at Carwash area in Kisumu’s Migosi estate have been built on sewer lines causing poor drainage.
Kisumu Deputy Governor Ruth Odinga said that the county government has received a comprehensive report from Kiwasco.
Speaking to this writer today at her county headquarters office, Odinga said that the county government had asked for a report from a taskforce that was to investigate the cause of poor drainage and burst sewer lines at Carwash area in the estate.
The area’s residents had threatened to protest against the county government for not taking action on the complaints of poor drainage and burst sewer lines.
She said, “The report that we have received now tells it all. The main cause of these problems start with the landlords and businessmen in the area.”
“We will see how to sort that matter probably by redirecting sewer lines to replace the burst ones,” added Odinga.
The county government is set to collaborate with the water company to see how the issue can be resolve.
