The residents claim the raw sewer has flown right into their houses, forcing some to even vacate in search of better and safer environment.

This comes only a few months after people from several villages in the outskirts of the area were diagnosed with cholera before it was contained by health officials.

The situation has even threatened some small business outlets such as eateries to close or go without customers for fear of diseases and unpleasant smell emanating from it.

Those in the great danger are young children who innocently play with sewer and those taking food at the adjacent end of the road.

According to Hodhan Arte, a community policing member, efforts to have the problem fixed by the relevant authorities; the Garissa Water and Wewerage Authority (GAWASCO) has not been successful.

But efforts to reach out to the GAWASCO officials proved futile since they could not pick calls nor reply text messages.

This is not the first time the sewer menace was happening; only two months ago the same problem was experienced within the town and administration police lines.
