Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati has decried the growing insecurity in Mt Elgon, saying all must be done to end the killings in the region.

Speaking during the burial of two victims of attack in Mt Elgon, Wangamati said insecurity in the region had reached alarming levels and would hurt planned investments in the sub-county.

The two were the latest victims in a spate of gruesome killings that is gradually sweeping across the region. In less than two months, there have been more than 20 killings all being the enterprise of a killer machine out to extort and displace families from their land.

Wangamati said there must be an end to the senseless violence visited upon the residents of Mt Elgon.

"I am going to escalate this matter to the highest possible office in the land to ensure the killings are brought to an end once and for all," he said on Sunday.
