A heroic welcome awaits a Bungoma soccer fan who cycled for 385 kilometres to Lodwar in Turkana to watch the just concluded Nzoia Region Secondary Schools Term 2B games.
Among officials expected to travel to the Eldoret International Airport to receive Kennedy Makokha is Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka among other top county employees.
Makokha surprised many early in the week when he rode a bicycle from Bungoma to Lokichar High School in Lodwar to cheer up his home team- Friends School Bukembe which, indeed, marvelously performed and qualified to represent Bungoma County in the national ball games.
By the time of the publication of this story Makokha was still in Lodwar from where he will be airlifted to Eldoret courtesy of Skyward Express, a local chartered commercial air travel company.
From the airport, he will be transported to Bungoma in a special car fueled by the county government.
Governor Lusaka will host him for a luncheon before handing him a brand new motorcycle bought by the county government.
Annet Wafula, a businesswoman based in Australia offered to extend financial aid to Mr Makokha's family.
She also offered to buy a new set of soccer uniforms for Friends School Bukembe following their success in the games.
Bukembe out-shined soccer powerhouse St Anthony's Kitale to qualify for the nationals which, will be hosted in Kisumu between July 29 and August 16.
