Speaking in the county headquarters, Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka revealed that the county government is working with the national government to construct roads to connect the region to Kakamega County in the South and Trans Nzoia County in the North.

Lusaka’s government will contribute Sh600 million and the national government will add the deficit of Sh600 million for the completion of the project.

Upon completion, the road will help farmers from this region to transport their produce with ease.

This, will in turn, save them great loses that they have been experiencing during the rainy season for many years.

The Governor urged the contractor of the project to speed up the process while ensuring that quality work is undertaken.

He also noted that locals will be involved in the refurbishing of the road.

For many years, residents of this region have decried the poor state of the road.

The new project will not only benefit those living in the region but also investors.

Popularly known as the Scheme, this area is known for Maize and Sugar cane production among other crops.
