Njihia, who was speaking in his CDF office on Thursday, said that they will start issuing cheques to the successful applicants on February and therefore the remaining parents have only few days remaining.

"We do not want to leave out any child who is bright and needy and that is why we are still considering more applications despite the fact that we have received more than 3000 applications. Needy parents and students only have a few days remaining because on the first week of February we shall start issuing out the cheques," said Njihia.

He said that the constituency bursary kitty had been allocated Sh13 million this financial year which is yet to be exhausted.

"This money is purely meant for bursaries and that is why we want needy students to apply for it so as not to stay away from school because of fees when there is money for that purpose here," he added.

At the same time, Njihia called on needy parents whose daughters scored more than 330 marks in last year's KCPE exams to consider taking them to Thika Girls High School in Karibaribi.

"The school is an initiative of our MP Alice Ng'ang'a and our CDF and we are aiming at empowering the girl child from the constituency who come from poor backgrounds," said Njihia.
