He said the delay was caused by failure by the National Government to release funds in time and that they were trying to push so that funds are released in time.

"No student has recieved bursary funds in this financial year but we are following up the matter with the National Government to ensure that it sends money in good time," he said.

The Deputy Governor also pleaded with all School heads not to harass students from Kisii county as they addressed the matter.

Mr Maangi also responded to demonstrators who were hitting on the County Government for being corrupt to seek audit reports.

"For the demonstrators who have been going round making unnecessary claims its time they went to the Finance offices and asked for audit reports," he said.

His sentiments come barely a day after a lobby group demonstrated in Kisii town demanding to know why the County government has not  released bursary funds.
