Tahmeed bus company has launched new buses that will offer first-class rides to passengers across the region.

Twelve buses were launched to offer the services starting this festive season.

Tahmeed pumped Sh312 million into the 37-seater buses as they intensified their efforts to compete the Standard Gauge Railway for passengers.

The SGR has been a source of stress to bus companies with the train ferrying 1,200 passengers in each trip.

According to Tahmeed, the new buses launched on November 24, 2017, will have similar features as the current Standard Gauge Railway train

“We aim to compete with the SGR, we also want to please our customers. So we have introduced 12 VIP bus units at a cost of Sh26 million each. The passengers will be paying the same flat uniform fare without discrimination,” said Operations Manager Kiplangat Ng’eno.

Apart from having two drivers, each bus will also have on board a hostess to serve passengers.
