An accident involving a bus and lorry has left ten people killed Tuesday morning. According to reports the two vehicles collided on Bangal-Ukasi Road in Tana River County leaving many passengers injured.
The bus was travelling to Nairobi from Wajir when the incident happened.
Witnesses say four children and their mother were among the passengers killed.
North eastern police boss Edward Mwamburi said that those who received injuries were rushed to the hospital.
"We have about ten people who lost their lives in the accident and toll may increase. We are investigating the incident," said Mwamburi as quoted by The Standard.
Others that witnessed the scene believe the death toll may have reached as high as 15, however police have not yet confirmed the claims.
According to Kenya Red Cross those that were injured were taken to Garissa Referral Hospital.
