(Photo/Nation)Bus services from Mandera to Nairobi resumed on Saturday after a whole week's suspension due to insecurity in the area.The buses will be escorted by police from Mandera Town to Kotulo, over 250 kilometres away, after the police officers from Elwak withdrew from escorting the buses.According to Mohamed Bardad, Mandera Bus Association Chairman Mohamed Bardad, an agreement is yet to made with security officers on various issues."We haven't agreed on many issues to allow normal operation of the buses since security officers are not ready to provide security escort," Bardad said.He said Mandera county commissioner Fredrick Shisia only allowed police escort the buses on Saturday."Police escort is only for Saturday to allow stranded passengers travel out of Mandera," he said.Bardad added that bus owners and the government agreed to allow Mandera residents to use the buses but non locals will not be allowed to board the buses.He advised non residents to use buses plying Mandera-Moyale-Isiolo route until security improves.
