[Photo|Busia County Government]Anglican Church of Kenya Katakwa Diocese Bishop John Okude, has appealed to political leaders to maintain peace during and after the October 26, fresh presidential elections.Speaking in Amagoro on Saturday when he received Busia Woman Representative Florence Mutua who paid him a courtesy call, Bishop Okude said it is his wish to have Kenya remain an Island of peace in the world."Many people have named Kenyan as an Island of peace for a long time. Let the election not break that peace that world countries have accredited us," he said. The Bishop said development has stuck across the counties because of the current heightened political temperatures. "We want elections over so that normalcy can return in the country."Bishop Okude also appealed to President Uhuru Kenyatta to release money to counties to help in meeting the needs which are crucial in their socioeconomic development."Money released to counties is meant for citizens. There are many children who are in school and need bursaries to meet their education obligations and other development objectives of the county.""Peace during election should be paramount and funds to counties should start trickling. Those are my two demands to the opposition and the national government," he added.
