Busia County FC is determined to wrestle this year's Kenya Inter-Counties Sports and Cultural Association (Kicosca) games which will be hosted by Machakos County on November 19-26, 2017.
The team captain Salim Suleiman, said the team will start training next week, to give their best shot in the games that will bring all the 47 counties for the eight day bonanza.
"We came close to winning the title in 2015 edition when we reached the final before losing to our neighbors Bungoma. Last year lady luck was not on our side when we were knocked out of the quarterfinals stage by Nairobi County," said Suleiman.
"We have a strong team that is capable of upstaging the defending champions Kisii and former champions Nairobi," he added.
Kicosca Busia Committee Secretary, Stephen Makhanu, said Busia will enter teams in eight disciplines. They are football, choir, traditional dance, darts, tug of war (men and women), Ajua (men), netball and volleyball men.
Busia County emerged winners in traditional own dance in Thika last year, and third in borrowed dance. Makhanu said they were hoping to consolidate their supremacy at the games.
Busia will not enter teams in volleyball women and athletics. Makhanu said the Kicosca national secretariat had ruled out teams which failed to qualify for the knock out stage during last year's games in Thika.
