Despite having generally a good expedition in Busia County on Sunday, ODM leader Raila Odinga came into reality with real threats facing a number of candidates from his party in August elections.

Predominantly an ODM zone, Odinga was welcomed by area Governor Sospeter Ojamoong who is defending his seat on the Orange party.

But ghost of bungled ODM nominations haunted Odinga as he tried to endorse reelection of Ojamoong in his several stopovers.

Busia County experienced highly contested ODM primaries with former Vice Chairman Paul Otuoma claiming victory, a move that was dismissed by appeals board in favour of the incumbent.

At Butula, Odinga was forced to divert from local politics and concentrate in his bid after locals booed him when he tried to back Ojamoong. Similar scenario was witnessed in Budalangi and in Busia town where he made a stopover.

Although he has maintained that he will support Odinga’s presidential bid, Otuoma will however rival Ojamoong as an independent candidate.
