One person is feared dead after violence broke out during an ODM political rally in Funyula, Busia, Friday evening.

Several others were reportedly left injured at the rally which was called by  Funyula MP Paul Otuoama’s at Funyula market.

Chaos erupted when his political rival Busia governor Sospeter Ojamoong' stormed the scene, leading to physical confrontations between supporters of the two leaders.

Otuoma had organised the rally to drum up his last minute support ahead of the nominations that were to take place, Saturday, April 8.

However the nominations were postponed to April 13 after IEBC demanded the aspirants names to be gazetted first.

Governor Ojamoong and Otuoma have been at loggerheads since the Funyula legislator declared to vie for the Busia gubernatorial seat. They are both eyeing the post on an ODM ticket.
