[Photo| Business Daily]Busia National Youth Council has called on the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to intervene and assist the youths who are still detained over the October 26 elections violence released unconditionally.Butula Youth Council chairman Vincent Ochieng who spoke during the County Peace and Cohesion Forum at Border Palace Hotel in Busia on Wednesday, noted that the youth are unable to raise the hefty cash bails thus making them remain in remand."It is sad to see my members most of whom never participated in the protests recuperating in remand. The cash bail ranging from Sh50,000 to Sh100,000 is unaffordable, thus my appeal for NCIC's intervention," said Ochieng.NCIC Director of Programmes Millicent Oketch however said the commission has no powers to release people who have been charged in court of law but noted that they can talk to KNCHR to help.
