As Ferdinand Waititu was being elected as the Kabete MP, most residents were busy making money on despite the ongoing by-election.
Most of those interviewed said they had to put food on their tables first and voting was just a waste of time since the politicians will not help them feed their families.
George Njuguna, a businessman in Kabete Town, said that he is busy at work and if only the election were done on a weekend, then it would have been something different.
He said that the leaders often make empty promises and he will not waste his money and time to vote in leaders who will not fulfil their manifesto.
Another resident, James Mungai, said he was among the first people to vote so he could open his business and carry on with business as usual.
He said that he is happy to participate in such an event and that he had faith in the Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
The residents have however lauded the peaceful by-election in the sub county and expressed their gratitude to the area police for the tight security in the area.
Kabete Constituency has 62,470 voters and 33 polling centres, which have 92 polling stations.
Only two out of the nine candidates voted since the rest were not registered voters in the constituency.
