Christmas is known to be a day when people relax to celebrate Christ's birth while engaging in festivities and making merry.
However, this was not the case for several traders in Pondamali Trading Centre, Nakuru West where business went on as usual.
Dennis Ngaruiya a trader at the centre said Christmas Day had long lost its meaning to him because of what Christians were engaging in hence his decision to do something productive.
"I'd rather remain here and do business instead of heading to the pub to drink in the name of Christmas," he said.
To Mary Andanje, a grocery store owner, the difficult economic times had pushed her to spread her wares even on this important day just to make ends meet.
She, however, confessed that sales were not good as many buyers had kept away from the market.
