Kibera matatu drivers and conductors are happy because business is back to normal after a five week disruption. The disruption was caused by the teachers strike which led to students and pupils missing school all over the country.
Driver Ben Nyabuto who operates in Kibera drive says he is thankful to the teachers for accepting to go back to school. “Our passengers in the morning and evening are always the students who promote our business. We were missing them since they are our bosses”, said Nyabuto.
His conductor Miriam Moraa also said she hopes that the business will not be interrupted again with such occurrences and urges teachers not to strike between the terms.
“I am hopeful that we will not experience the strike again because it does not only affect the teachers or pupils but also the transportation sector. The children are our source of income,” said Moraa.
