Business came to a standstill Wednesday as President Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto toured Nakuru.
The Jubilee duo made stopovers at Makutano, Kamara, Total Junction, Molo Posta, Moto, Elburgon, Njoro and finally Nakuru town.
The trading centres burst into excitement as the Presidential mortocade snaked its way into the dusty, sleepy stopovers with the President and his Deputy atop their cadillac guzzlers waving at jubilant crowds.
Industrious traders had pulled down their shops' grills and joined farmers, who had downed their tools, to bask in the glory of the Presidential trip.
By the time the President's motorcade was approaching Total Junction, some 30 kilometres from Molo town, Mary Wambui, a food vendor at Molo's Kaloleni had already hang her apron.
"Hei, ata mimi sijawachwa nyuma . . . Lazima nione Uhulu," she said excitedly.
Wambui was not alone, many small businesses along routes where the two passed closed and allowed employees to have a glimpse of 'power'.
"I have seen power itself," Mark Njihia said.
The road trip by the President and his Deputy gave them a chance to come face to face with the daily lives of their supporters in the region.
