A business community in Nakuru has petitioned the Nakuru County Government to repair roads, sewerage and drainage channels, and install traffic lights to enhance security and business activities.
Mawanga Teachers Business Owners Association (MATEBOA) Chairman, James Maina while talking to this writer at Mariakani business centre said the poor state of infrastructure was affecting their business operations.
According to the business community boss, his organization had written a petition letter to the county government’s ministry of roads and housing to take action on the petition, and copied the same to the tax collection and revenue department since ‘it is not fair for us to pay tax but fail to benefit from it as a business community’.
“We have petitioned the government to take action because we pay the government tax. We will take another step if we do not get feedback as we have indicated. Actually these states are affecting our business operations and we demand that there be an improvement,” said Maina.
He also noted that the poor state of roads in the area, especially during rainy seasons prevent goods supplies in the area.
He added that poor drainage channels in the area cause floods and contributes to poor business operations including damage of roads and movement of people and traffic.
