According to  Eric Omwange a business man in the area, Kisii town is now more busy at night than during the day time.

“The business hours in the town  has changed.  Previously many business used to close at seven O’clock  in the evening contrast to now where some extend up to past midnight while others  are operating 24 hours,” says Omwange.

Omwange says that many business men in the town has  increased their sales courtesy of street lights. Omwange also notes that street lighting has reduced criminal cases in town during the night.

Previously insecurity was high in the county at night as many streets were full of total darkness.

Kisii county government is in an effort to achieve 24 hour economy. Lighting initiative in the county was launched late last year by the county governor James Ongwae.
