Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has declared that his government will exempt some small scale businesses from taxation.
Speaking after he was sworn in as Kiambu governor after the August 8 polls, Waititu said that salons, barber shops and agricultural products like milk will not be taxed.
He spoke this during his swearing-in ceremony at Ndumberi grounds on Saturday.
Waititu said that the new policy will take effect in his first 100 days in office.
"Anyone who wants to start a barber shop or salon can go out with a pair of scissors or shaving machine and start their business," he said as quoted by the Star.
"Those selling milk will not be charged for the produce. Our aim is to improve dairy farming in Kiambu," Waititu added.
