Embattled Kenyan businessman Don Bosco Gichana has accused deputy president William Ruto of betrayal despite the two enjoying cordial relationship.
For five years now, Gichana has been languishing in Arusha prison despite the prosecution failing to prove money laundering and fraud allegations.
Through organisers of 'Bring Don Home', Gichana, who contested for Kitutu Chache South seat in 2013 on a URP ticket, said he had received no help from his ally.
"He is being held for five years yet Ruto has been silent throughout. What is happening to him is just torture but those in power are not ready to listen," said Patrick Matoke, the organiser of Friday's Kisii demonstrations.
He added: "The DP, by the virtue of his office, at least should be concerned with whereabouts of his friend. It is sad that it is yet to happen."
In 2013, Bosco is said to have funded the URP wing during the intense campaigns that saw Uhuru Kenyatta winning presidency.
Before that, Mr. Gichana was a close ally of ODM leader Raila Odinga and featured in 2007 campaigns.
