Detained Kenyan businessman Don Bosco Gichana has passionately appealed to Kenyans to maintain peace and tranquility before, during and after the 2017 elections.
His message comes at the time when politicians from across the political divide are involved in heated campaigns with either side keen on clinching victory.
And on his Facebook account, the Arusha-based prisoner wrote the passionate message after hailing Kenyans for the nice sent off given to his mother Celine Nyaboke who was buried in his absence.
“First, I wish to thank my countrymen for the compassion and affection you showed me when my mother passed on. You are a family to me and I really miss you so much. The compassion you showed is a typical description of great people,” he said.
“I know we are heading into the elections next year and political temperatures are simmering. Its, however, important for us to remain peaceful because we do not have any other country. Elections will come and go so it’s important to remain peaceful,” he added.
Gichana is being held at an Arusha prison on money laundering and fraud claims since 2013 and various attempts to have him released notably by ODM party leader Raila Odinga have hit a snag with US keen on having him extradited to face the charges.
