Members of parliament on Tuesday received a petition seeking the removal of Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i following a High Court conviction.
A Wajir businessman Mohamud Sheikh claimed that Matiang'i has violated the constitution by ignoring court orders thus unsuitable to hold public office.
Last week, Matiang'i failed to appear in court following his conviction on contempt of court , forcing presiding judge to slap him with a fine of Sh200,000.
But on Tuesday, a resilient Matiang'i, denied receiving court orders when he appeared before Parliamentary Select Committee on security.
Further, Matiang'i denied deporting lawyer Miguna Miguna, claiming that the embattled self proclaimed NRM General had not formally entered the country.
Should MPs find him culpable of gross violation of the constitution, Matiang'i will be the first cabinet minister to be impeached under the reign of president Uhuru Kenyatta.
