A businessman found murdered in his bed in Yaitha market in Machakos county today.
Area chief Pius Mwalavu confirmed the killing adding that the victim’s head had been cut off.
It is reported that the residents in the area grew suspicious after the businessman did not open his business as usual prompting them to break his door.
Initial findings show that the businessman’s assailants gained entry into the house through the roof.
"We noted some parts of the iron sheet roofing had been removed and we suspect the killers got into the room through the roof," said the chief.
The businessman moved to the market a few months ago and opened butchery and a hotel. Although the motive of the killing is not clear, residents think that the crime is linked to a business rivalry.
Police say they will ensure the perpetrator is brought to justice.
