A Mombasa businessman was on Monday shot dead at Maji Machafu area in Kisauni by three armed men.
Kisauni police boss Christopher Rotich who confirmed the incident said the businessman identified as Alfred Mutua, was confronted by the gang at around 10 pm.Rotich said the 27-year-old man was about to close his business when the suspects confronted him and ordered him to give them money.The businessman tried wrestling one of the suspects during the Monday night incident before being shot by the second suspect.The police boss said they have launched investigations into the matter adding that the gang made away with Sh25,000 and the victim’s mobile phone.“The gunmen struck at the deceased’s business premises and ordered to be given the money. During the incident, the businessman accosted one of the suspect but one of his accomplices shot him,” said Rotich.“The suspects escaped on foot to an unknown destination after stealing the money. We have launched investigations and a manhunt for the suspects who fled after committing the crime,” he added, as quoted by Baraka FM.
