An Eldoret businessman Julius Kamau Maina on Friday threatened a Nation reporter who was covering a court case in which he has been accused of forging a Sh850,000 Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) cash deposit slip of as payment to Kenya Forest Service (KFS).

Maina who had been released on a sh100, 000 bond after pleading not guilty before Eldoret Chief Magistrate Charles Obulutsa told the reporter, Titus Ominde, that he should mind his business and will regret covering the case.

Ominde reported the matter at Eldoret West Police Station and was booked under OB no 83/21/07/017.

During the hearing of the case, the court heard that on 9th July 2014 at Kenya Forest Service station in Eldoret within Uasin Gishu County, the suspect trading through ELDO CONVAS COMPANY LTD, forged Kenya Commercial Bank cash deposit slip of Sh850,000 payable to the account of Kenya Forest Service which he purported to be a genuine cash deposit slip issued by KCB at Moi Avenue branch, Nairobi.

The payments were meant to enable Maina to clear fell forest materials.Through his lawyer Charles Nyamweya, the suspect distanced himself from ELDO CONVAS COMPANY LTD which is associated with him.

He is facing 8 counts in relation to using forged KCB bank payment slips with intent to defraud KFS.

The case is scheduled to be mentioned on August 4.
