The warning was issued by Makongeni Police Station OCS Samuel Khisa on Monday following the robbing and stabbing of an M-Pesa operator in Makongeni Shopping Centre on Sunday night.

"The festive season is with us here once again and as we prepare to celebrate, remember thugs are also planning to harvest where they never sowed especially from the businessmen," said Khisa.

He added: "Though the Police is on the watch out, it is good for businessmen like money transfer agent operators to be very cautious to avoid losing their hard-earned cash."

Khisa asked the operators to consider reviewing their opening and closing time during the festive season to curb such instances.

"Don't open your business till very late into the night because even if thugs don't ambush you at your business, they may way-lay, rob and do very nasty things to you," added Khisa.

The OCS also asked the businessmen to shun from keeping a big amount of money at their businesses saying it was risky to them.
