Businesspeople in Njoro have been urged to invest in solar energy in order to gain maximum returns in their business operations. Speaking to business operators at the Ngondu business centre during the launch of solar energy products from China, visiting don at Egerton University Prof Cheng Wu said businesspeople can save about 60 per cent of money they spend on electricity bills if they embrace solar energy. The solar energy expert also observed that road side traders could extend their operating hours after night fall noting that solar energy products promote health as compared to paraffin and electric accidents. He encouraged locals to embrace solar energy saying that the products are cheap and durable for lighting, heating and charging services. “I encourage you to try these affordable and durable solar energy products for you to save on costs you incur on other sources of energy,’’ he said. The professor, from the Nanjing Agricultural University which partners with Egerton University, added that energy is a vital resources and a problem to many people in developing countries across the world. He called for renovation in the sector in order to provide accessible and affordable sustainable sources of energy.
